The High Modernist Literacy

When the turkish republic began, one of the first big projects was dropping the arab excrept and a switching from ottoman turkish to modern turkish with the new alphabet. The government actually had really massive education programmes. And if you learned those, like, thousand japanese characters, you were like functionally litter in the language. It made a way easier to communicate within the country, because there was much less variation in the symbols everybody was using. Think that was japan. I gus, kind of like simplified chinese too. Rih, i just found the the turkish numbers were, literacy went from one in ten to one in three on ten years.
