The Difference Between Transfer and Trauma Center Care
Over two thirds of older adults in Ontario who have a severe injury go to a non trauma center from the field. And less than half of those patients are then transferred to a trauma center. We know there's about a 25 to 30% reduction in mortality with these types of patients being treated at a trauma center and yet they are persistently not identified as needing care.
