How to Reduce Waiting Time for Kidney Transplants

To be listed for kidney transplants, actively listed where we would actually consider offering somebody a kidney, they have to have a GFR of 20 or less. There's a lot of steps to the evaluation, but it can take three, six months to get all the testing done. And so it's not unreasonable to go ahead and refer someone for transplant when their GFR is in the mid to low 20s.
