Malpass and Threttwood
Flintshire detached was a separate body of the county in the 19th century. The last one to disappear from the map was Flintshire detached, the Maylord, in 1974. To get here, I drove through places called Malpass and Threttwood. You'll find that name cropping up in all sorts of places - it's always to signify a dangerous pass. It is a dangerous pass because it was the threat of the Welsh. So it's sort of a bandit country. And Threttwood, even more so. There's still a bit of an air of anarchy to the place, even today.
