Are We Going to Consume Ever Greater Numbers of Metals and Minerals?
Most of us will never get to encounter a mine in our lives because they have been part of the world we've not lived in. Even if you can get close to one there's health and safety reasons why you mean I want to go down. A wind turbine takes nine times as much metal input as a gas fire power station. So that's why this conversation is so timely because although we are aware of where our food comes from so far we haven't had to think about where metals and minerals come from.
