Chey's Journey to North Korea
Chey's estranged husband Shin Sang-ok is one of South Korea's most famous filmmakers. He was brought to North Korea by a group of young men in long-haired wigs. They bundled Chey onto a small skiff and then took her out to sea. She fainted during the process, she says, and woke up on a ship with Kim Il-sung looking down at her from a portrait.
