The Importance of Gender in the Workplace
I don't think that the groups men and women have the kind of uniform experiences of gender that would allow us to make that kind of comparison. So for example, it's true that white men earn more than white women in the workplace; their median hourly wage is actually higher. But we're talking about groups of people who have such vastly different experiences of being a man or of being a woman that I don't think it makes sense to use those two groups as a men versus women comparison. Oh, I absolutely think we should talk about those things.
