The Black Death may have killed one half of the Western European population. The disease was spread by fleas that had snuck onto Gen.Y ships back to Italy. Peasants were now in a bargaining position, and oh did they take advantage! It took about 150 years for the population of Western Europe to return to pre-plague levels.
