EKG tracings are looking at average signals, right? If you have myocardium that's depolarizing and it's moving in multiple different directions. In a mature heart, the left ventricle is generally more massive than the right. The QRS axis also should be upright in one, upright in AVF with a couple of important exceptions. And so just like any other muscle, as the baby's heart starts to pump against that higher systemic vascular resistance, the left heart will beef up.
