David Guineot: Today we're going to start Michel Foucault's third series of lectures from the Calege de France titled The Punitive Society. Part one, what we're doing today is going to cover chapters one, two and three. Part two will cover chapters four, five, six, part three, chapter seven, eight, nine. And then part four is going tocover chapters 10, 11, 12, 13, plus the short course summary at the end.
