Al-Hitham's Opposition to Ptolemy
By the late 10th century, scientific fervour of early Abbasid caliphs had subsided. Al-Hitham was rigorous in his approach and deeply skeptical of previous work. This skepticism also resulted in one of the most important reflections on Greek astronomy - D'Au'ts on Ptolemy. In this work, he explicitly points out many of the problems inherent in P tolemy's work.
