Regeneration Following Blood Loss and Acute Inflammation Percedes Without Contribution of Primitive HSCs
Hematopoietic stem cells, or HSCs, are multipotent cells that sit at the top of the hematopoietIC hierarchy. They have the unique ability to give rise to all types of blood and immune cells. When transplanted, HSCs are capable of reconstituting a full hema-system. The current thinking is that all these cells are coming from HSCs that may be only one millionth of all productive clones.
