If you find a really good item in Sheeran, it gives you an advantage, but it's a huge advantage. The easiest one which you encounter fairly early is the rice ball monster that turns you into a dishwashing machine once in a while. It reminds you of Banjo Kazooie when you turn into a pumpkin or those objects. Those waste that mumbo-jumbo quote unquote, helps you. But I definitely see what you're saying.
