The Importance of Context in Interface Design

Designers are overconfident in how their users actually use icons. And so we sometimes misunderstand ourselves what job the icon does for the person using the service. Sometimes it's just the recognition that is interesting whether or not the meaning of the icon is there or not, maybe even it's irrelevant.
