My mother was constantly ashamed for leaving my dad. She was shamed into getting married for the second time, right? Like everyone was like, well, if you don't, if your daughter doesn't have a father. And that kind of forced her to get married to this person. I think it really took a toll on my mam's self esteem. i feel like indian women in general always have an internal conflict when it comes to their self worth.
