The Role of Hope and Faith in Persistence

Hope and faith have some degree of rationality, but maybe in most cases it's going to be very low compared with a belief formed action or an action based on a belief which will have a much higher degree of rationality. Even if things are pretty desperate and you really don't have a ton of evidence you're going to survive, I still think even in those desperate times when your evidence is really inconclusive, I think you still can act as if it's true. So it's kind of like a feature of the non-ideal, the fact that we'renon-ideal epistemically or something.
