I realized that the discipline to, you know, take on a long-term project like writing a book and sticking with it and working on it every day was informed by my experience of going to college where it was a ruthless environment. I don't think I would be able to do what I do, at least not on the same level. It's about becoming the kind of person who is capable of being flexible and starting in one field and then transferring into another. We need to change the whole conversation about education and what it's for. That we need to treat it not just as a civil right, but as a human right.
