How to Find a Grid Cell in the Prefrontal Cortex
The researchers who did this were very clever. They used fMRI technology to deduce the presence of grid cells in the prefrontal cortex. It was literally you could just take a human and ask them to do some things inside an fMRI imaging machine. And through clever experimental analysis, they were able to figure out that yes, there's grid cells there.
