The Curse of a Very Angerful Mother
The Dutch village of Safftinga is said to be haunted by a curse. A mermaid warned that unless the town straightened up and fixed its greed, something horrible was going to happen. In 1570, a flood swept through the Dutch coast, flooding the land around the town. 14 years later, in 1584, the Dutch army destroyed one of the dikes that held back the ocean. Only its towers will continue to stand tall.
