The One Thing You Can't Do Is Stand Still
The one thing that comes clearly out of this letter is that the one thing you can't do is stand still. And if you go back, stop going on, you cannot stand still. So let's now look at the structure of the letter and see how it builds up. In chapters one and two, you've got a long argument and a short appeal. But gradually as you go through you get shorter arguments and longer appeals. The proportion of the argument and the appeal changes as we go through the letter. He starts negatively and he builds up to positive. If you underline any language of those two exhortations, you'll find you've underlined almost every chapter all the way
