The Connection Between Free Will and Moral Responsibility
We've got a related question about the connection between free will and moral responsibility, this time about a basic desert. I'm puzzled about the definition of basic desert responsibility. Why are contractolist reasons for praise lame specifically excluded from basic dessert along with consequentialist ones? It's easy to see that consequentials reasons are excluded when the very name consequentialism focuses on looking forward to the consequences of our actions. But i see nothing in contractialism, as usually understood in moral philosophy to exclude backward looking elements.
