Um Kothun - A Memoir
Um Kothun's arrival in Cairo in 1923 came at a promising time in the nation's history. It was around this time that she was introduced to a very popular Egyptian composer and virtuoso oot player named Muhammad al-Asubki. Her rising fame made her feel the need to transform even more. She wanted long gowns with elegant sleeves, fabrics, lace and silks the highest quality.
