How Do Publishers Make Money?
Publishers keep the lights on with audible and electronic book. If I sell a print book was right there for say $25 retail, Amazon is the 800 pound gorilla sells it at what's called discount price. So instead of buying for $25, they only have to buy the book for say $12. The publisher will always do the $12 period so you don't get compromised.
