The History of Copyright in Recorded Sound

The Copyright Act of 1909 did not allow for copyright in recorded sound because it was in its infancy. At the time that Let's Get It On was published and recorded, there was only copyright available in sheet music. Pullman said one of his lawsuits would be different because it involved a copyright on the recording rather than just the sheet music.
