What Happened to the Head Start Kids?
Early childhood education doesn't seem to be able to have much o an if so i studied that for about 20 years, looking at exactly that. The hope was that if you got kids early enough, you could give them a head start cognitively and that that would spiral upward in one of these positive loops. But that didn't happen. What happened was, the kids who went to head start leapet ahead of their peers cognitively, but the peers caught up by grade six. Except the headstart kids were less likely to drop out of school, to become criminal and to become pregnant in young So it wasn't nothing, but it didn't work cognitively. And so we don't
