Is It Possible to Render Those Ideas in a Naturalistic Way?
Permanence, impermanence, suffering. This is a core refrain in the Buddhist canon. Everything is impermanent is dukkha, sometimes translated as suffering. And everything is not self. So here's where we connect to Buddhist exceptionalism. I think it's possible to render those ideas that is to interpret them in a way that makes them consistent with naturalism. That's a possible move and many modern Buddhists want to do that. It started out with Hindu teachers doing this before Buddhism came to the west.
