The Future of Ocean-Based Carbon Removal

There's lots of companies around the world that are kicking off trials for ocean-based carbon removal. A Canadian firm called Planetary Technologies wants to release about 300 tons of magnesium hydroxide into waters off the coast of Cornwall later this year. They're working on getting permission to do the trial at the moment so it's a bit of a live issue. There's still so much we don't really know about how these efforts to kind of boost carbon storage in the ocean will intersect with the ecological functions of the ocean.
