The Importance of Interpretable Machine Learning
The goal of interpretable machine learning is to make decisions that affect other people's lives more easily understood. In his PhD program, Lee worked on the SLAM algorithm which means simultaneous localization and mapping. He says he was obsessed with robots from a young age; wanted to work at NASA. His research focuses on how algorithms can be used for everyday tasks such as vacuuming or driving cars.
