Ancient Rome used to be a democracy before it became the roman empire. The publicanes and populars sought power through gaining support of the poor. It was this struggle that led to the imperial rome. A documentary, fog of war, won the oscar back in two thousand four i think. I always learned that we were trying to demonstrate our dominance. That's why we ended up dropping the bombs. And we didn't need to.
