Is There a Difference Between Intermittent Fasting and Actual Fasting?

When I first started treating patients in 1977, trying to eat anything after six or seven p.m. was a fast. That means probably that you're going to be fasting for 12 hours before your breakfast the next morning. And if we want to call it intermittent fasting, okay, let's call it intermittentfast, we'll buy fasting. It's natural fasting. You know, when people have stabilized their metabolism by getting rid of junk food, especially sugar, they're able to fast longer than they were before.
