Is Howard Carter Excavating the Tomb?

It seems from Carter's letters that he was either denying that it came from the tomb or that he wasn't aware. It's a shame if these very minorish things sort of detract away from his excavation, which on the whole, was very, very good. If we compare him to the work being done by other people just slightly earlier, he is an excellent excavator. We have to be really glad that Howard Carter was excavating the tomb and not some of the other people who had worked in the Valley of the Kings.
