The Cuban Missile Crisis
The cuban missile crisis of 19 62 was essentially a month long stand off between the us. And the soviets over moscow's plan to install a nuclear missile base in communist cuba, just a few dozen miles off the florida coast line. The brinkmanship from both sides was extreme, with the us Blockading the caribbean and seriously considering plans,. ultimately vetoed by president john f. Kennedy, for a full scale invasion of cuba. It is interesting to reflect on how our own generation has mostly forgotten about the fear of living in nuclear shadow.
