An ideal repertoire for older, intermediate club players is around forty with a job and kids who still have the desire to improve. Should we play practical main lines, because they're rich, fun, instructive, or should we embrace a low theory system? If you are playing the sicilian nidorf and the grunfeld indian, then i think this is not an ideal combination as these are so theory heavy openings. And yet, the value of having a sparring partner is also important in many ways.
