The History of Bull Fighting in Spain

Bull fighting was banned by pope pius the fifth in 15 67. But as bull fights became more and more popular, eventually the church dropped the ban. In the sixteenth century special bull fights were held to celebrate holy days. One of the first professional bull fighters is generally given credit for creating the modern bull fighting style we know to day. A man called pedro romero reportedly killed a staggering five thousand 600 bulls during his career. He popularized the red cape so synonymous with spanish bull fighting to day.
