The Evolution of the Cypress Family

Perritoli is a genus of about 66 or so different species. Most of them are shrubs and they're all isolated onto these vertical rock cliffs. There's really interesting examples of evolution in composites. A lot of them have been on islands or like Asplasia, high altitude andes where you get populations isolated into little bubbles of habitat. Tends to be an example of an adaptive radiation in the desert onto dunes, rocky places and low desert. And it looks like I'm still in the process of studying this botany among desert bougainvillea.
