Is the Labor Market Voluntary?
Bob Greene: One of the theories I've heard about the jobs market and some of these more negative, I don't know what you call it, underlying pieces has been that we're at this world where full-time employment is basically anyone who is a full-time. And so now what's happening is a lot of the incremental hiring is more in the part-time side of the economy. He says he doesn't think those are voluntary situations where people are saying, I would rather work part-time. Greene: When we finally start to slow down to more stable equilibrium, it's not nearly as good as what the unemployment rate says because the official labor force continues to shrink.
