When does in the novel, when does your understanding of show business match up with the worst things you ever heard about show business? In the novel or real life? In real life. Auditioning in New York during the early days. It was so pretty much right after I got out of school and would go on auditions and wait in the rooms. And sometimes for hours at a time to get a meeting with somebody or go on tape. The way that working man, what I'd call lunchbox actors were treated by the system. We put ourselves through it because a system was in place that took us for granted.
