Decision-Making in Visualization
In decision-making there's all of these heuristics which are rules of thumb or strategies that we use and biases which are kind of ways in which we're inclined to make ineffective decisions. That hasn't been studied as much in visualization because it's a very complex step in and of itself. In visualization you really have to account for all of the downstream processes like memory, retention and all of those things to even figure out what happens at the decision-making step. Things can go haywire really so some of my favorite work out of decision-making and behavioral economics demonstrates that we often take strategies from other contexts to interpret new information.
