The Tension Between the Needs of the Author and the Need of the Convention

The convention wants to offer an interesting set of discussions that their conversations arranged around a topic. The author wants to sell more books. These are not necessarily compatible goals. So the thing is, what programming would actually like to know is, how are you interesting?
