The Cost Benefits of Low Crime
I've had the luxury of railing against the carceral system when crime was low. Now that crime is up, the cost benefit calculation appears different. This is something that folks who are working on criminal justice reform are very worried about. I think still the smart on crime approach is not to put people in prison for 50 years. It does not improve public safety in any meaningful way.
