Lacan's project is like, nope, it is just the drive, everything comes back to this. It is a fundamental structure. And I think this is part of their investment in the multiple. They don't accept the idea of it subverting you at every turn. That's one of these things where they think psychoanalysis just preaches this, and then people think that instead of uncovering ways in which the psyche works.
