The Fed's Fine-Tuned Control Over the Economy
It's not clear to me that the Fed has the fine-tuned control over the economy that we're trained to believe. This cycle is just different. The longer inflation remains elevated, the greater the risk that inflation expectations become unanchored and move up. I'm confident they will implement a policy that is sufficiently restrictive to bring inflation back down to 2% in two or three years.
