In Washington DC I never quite knew what my ambitions were. The idea of working in an office and doing office type work in a committed fashion seemed like a little quiet death to me. Being a data entry clerk even though I was very very good just didn't compare to being an incompetent work correspondent. People can make you feel guilty even using those words like reckless and irresponsible as if it were somehow irresponsible to spend your life traveling.
