In India the king's role was very limited in the lives of people. He really restricted himself to collecting his taxes and building some water tanks or building a highway. The Indian model of kingship is very different from the Iranian model of kingships. In many ways one can say China, he was trying to create that because he did not like kings ceding power to local kings. But what happens in India is this kind of what is called a centrifugal and a centripetalmodel of kingship where depending on how powerful you are you control large portions of the land.
