The Retrieval of the Solas of the Reformation

Professor Kevin Van Hoosier's new book biblical authority after Babel is a brilliant presentation of issues that are genuinely historical and genuinely current. The 500th anniversary of the Reformation is looming before us but the issues faced by evangelical Protestants in the 16th century are still the issues faced today. I think there is loss on the one hand however by failing to lay out what the reformers and their heirs meant by these solas because as we are looking at the 500th anniversary it seems to me that that is the first and most primary task. But he argues quite substantially and I think quite successfully that there is a genuine doctrinal consensus wherever the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached or affirmed.
