The Conservative Perspective on American Politics
The tradition of Anglo-American conservatism, going back in my book, I argue at least to the 1400s but probably centuries before that, is a tradition. It's not one that accepts any of these three cornerstone liberal ideas. Conservatives historically don't start in that place. And so this is a moment where many, many people who have been sort of committed liberals all their lives are beginning to ask what went wrong.
