The Aristocracy and the French Revolution
Under Louis XIV, the king mandated a minimum number of new textiles that they just had to be created in a given year. In order to detect and quash any secretive, counter-revolutionary plots between those groups, the Republic stood up a committee on public safety led by Maximilian Robespierre. The most immediate threat to this new democracy was a conspiracy between the Church, families loyal to the Crown, and foreign influences like the Holy Roman Empire. All of their interests are aligned.
