The Washington Aristocracy
I grew up in a household that was probably sort of socialist and where my parents were always marching on Washington. But I also distinctly remember when Nixon resigned as a Jewish kid from D.C. My parents sent me to a Christian Southern camp in North Carolina but there was this huge moment awakening for me. The dysfunctional small southern town of Washington DC didn't seem to understand the scale and scope of America.
