There is an overlap between narcissism and BPD. Everyone with narcissism, the way that I've heard it also has BPD but everyone with BPD doesn't necessarily have narcissism. If you grew up in an environment where your parents are really hot and cold and volatile then you can internalize basically this sense of not knowing what is going to happen. In that lack of security and that lack of certainty, you create stories.
