The Importance of Knowledge in Zoos
Martha made an amazing point about the folly of judging animals based on our skills. What if there's actually a greater obligation which is to take animals for the skills that they have that we may not have and build rights around those skills? I think elephants should never be kept in zoos dolphins again, a lot of fish can live pretty well in a decent aquarium sometimes apes if the colony is large enough but most zoos deprive creatures of their normal form of life.
